HP Lights-Out Online Configuration utility is a command line utility used to configure ProLiant Integrated Lights-Out processor (iLO) from within the operating system without requiring a reboot of the server. From Hewlett Packard Development Company:- Software Depot for HPE iLO Evaluation Licenses for HPE ProLiant Servers.
- My iLO interface has been attacked and it is being used for malicious purposes. I need to upgrade the firmware. The iLO web interface allows me to upload a.bin file ('Obtain the firmware image (.bin) file from the Online ROM Flash Component for HP Integrated Lights-Out.' ) Where can I find this.bin.
The HPE iLO Mobile application provides access to the remote console of your HPE ProLiant server from your Android device. The mobile app interacts directly with the iLO processor on HPE ProLiant servers, providing total control of the server at all times as long as the server is plugged in. For example, you can access the server when it is in a healthy state, or when it is powered off with a blank hard drive. As an IT administrator, you can troubleshoot problems and perform software deployments from almost anywhere.
The HPE iLO Mobile app allows you to perform the following tasks:
- Operate the server power switch.
- Use the Remote Console to interact with the operating system, including BIOS and ROM configuration changes.
- Mount an ISO CD/DVD image. The disk image is available on the server as a USB CD/DVD drive. You can boot from the disk image and deploy an operating system.
- Launch HPE iLO scripts and monitor their progress.
- Access the HPE iLO web interface.
- Store the list of servers you want to manage.
Limitations:
- HP ProLiant servers with HP iLO 3 or later are supported.
- You must have network access to the iLOs you want to manage.
- You can connect through a firewall using a VPN or you can open/forward the following ports:
HTTP: Port 80
HTTPS: Port 443
Remote Console: Port 17990
- The following features require an HPE iLO Advanced license on the server:
iLO Virtual Media
Remote Console is included on ProLiant Blade servers. A license is required on all other servers.
Scripting is available on all servers, but a license is required for the scripting of certain features such as iLO Virtual Media.
For information about HPE iLO and HPE iLO Advanced, see https://www.hpe.com/info/ilo.
- The HPE iLO Mobile app can consume significant network bandwidth. When using the cellular network, monitor your data use if you do not have an unlimited data plan. Consider using Wi-Fi when possible.
- Does not support third party keyboards.
- Does not support iLO 2 systems.
Tips:
- When viewing remote console, pinch to zoom, press to click and drag, and long-press for right-click.
- Tap the CD icon to mount/unmount a virtual media URL
- Tap the power icon to power on/off/reset the host server
- Tap the health icon to show the iLO web UI.
Tested with Samsung Galaxy S7, LG Nexus 5X.
How can you tell if an Android app is safe?

The iLO web interface allows me to upload a
.bin
file (Obtain the firmware image (.bin) file from the Online ROM Flash Component for HP Integrated Lights-Out.)The iLO web interface redirects me to a page in the HP support website (http://www.hp.com/go/iLO) where I am supposed to find this
.bin
firmware, but no luck for me. The support website is a mess and very slow, badly categorized and generally unusable.Where can I find this
.bin
file? The only related link I am able to find asks me about my server operating system (what does this have to do with the iLO?!) and lets me download an .iso
with no .bin
file And also a related question: what is the latest iLO 3 version? (for Proliant DL380 G7, not sure if the iLO is tied to the server model)

For Ubuntu there is no available firmware installer. Select the one for RedHat. You will get an
.scexe
file, which you can unpack:There you have it: a
dangonfastdangonfastilo3_180.bin
which you can upload with your iLO 3 web interface.1,61088 gold badges2828 silver badges4343 bronze badges
Download from HP and extract to your PC. You'll see a .bin file in the resulting directory. You can upload that to the ILO firmware page.
You can update all of the system firmware using the HP Service Pack for ProLiant (HP SPP) DVD download. You can update ILO firmware from the host server's operating system using the appropriate ILO package for the running OS. Windows is linked above. Linux is linked here.
All drivers and downloads for the DL380 G7 are here.

While struggling with the same problems on HP's website I too found it incredibly difficult to find a specific .bin version. I was going to create a library of bin files, but someone else beat me too it. This site is hosting .bin files for several ilo versions.
* other than using that page myself I'm not affiliated.

For convenience, the latest versions of the firmware are being tracked at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HP_Integrated_Lights-Out, and independently by http://pingtool.org/latest-hp-ilo-firmwares/.
At time of writing, they are:
- ILO1 : ilo196.bin (30-Apr-2014)
- ILO2 : ilo2_230.bin (12-Oct-2017)
- ILO3 : ilo3_189.bin (iLO3 v 1.89.2, 07-Jul-2017)
- ILO4 : ilo4_255.bin (iLO4 v 2.55.10, 16-Aug-2017)
- ILO5 : ilo5_115.bin (iLO5 v 1.55, 25-Sep-2017)
The links are direct download for
.scexe
files. They are tar.gz
archives prepended by a shell script, but can be detected and extracted by 7-Zip. Inside there is a .bin
file, which you can extract and upload directly to the iLO.
